TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS & CONDITIONS – SOLAR PV & BATTERY INSTALLATIONS

1. Definitions

“Company” refers to UK Solar Direct and/or Solar Direct Limited.

“Customer” refers to the individual(s) named within the quotation, proposal, contract, or invoice documentation.

“System” refers to the solar photovoltaic (PV) system, battery storage system, inverter, mounting system, electrical components and associated installation works supplied by the Company.

“Completion” refers to the point at which the installation has been substantially completed, commissioned, energised, and handed over to the Customer.

2. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 7 days unless otherwise stated in writing.

Quoted pricing is based on the information available at the time of survey or enquiry. Additional works outside the agreed scope may incur additional charges.

The Company reserves the right to amend quotations where:

* inaccurate property information has been provided,
* structural or electrical issues are discovered,
* access requirements change,
* Distribution Network Operator (DNO) requirements change,
* or additional works become necessary.

3. Deposits & Payment Terms

A deposit payment may be required to secure installation scheduling, stock allocation, and quoted pricing.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment terms are as follows:

* Initial deposit payable upon acceptance of quotation
* Stage payment payable prior to installation commencement
* Final balance payable immediately upon completion, commissioning, and handover of the System

Payment details and staged amounts will be confirmed within the customer quotation or invoice documentation.

Failure to make payment in accordance with agreed terms may result in delays to installation, commissioning, certification, warranty documentation, or handover.

The Company reserves the right to charge statutory interest and reasonable recovery costs on overdue balances in accordance with applicable legislation.

Minor software, monitoring, WiFi, mobile application or connectivity issues which do not affect the core operation or energy generation/storage performance of the installed system shall not constitute reasonable grounds for withholding the full outstanding balance.

In the event of any alleged minor defect or non-critical issue, the customer shall not be entitled to withhold more than a reasonable proportion of the outstanding balance relating specifically to that issue.

4. Completion of Works

The System shall be deemed complete once:

* installation works are substantially finished,
* the System has been commissioned,
* the inverter and battery systems are operational,
* and handover has taken place.

Minor cosmetic items, software updates, monitoring configuration, administrative documentation, or non-critical snagging items shall not prevent practical completion.

5. Monitoring Apps & Internet Connectivity

Monitoring applications, online portals, WiFi connectivity services, and third-party software platforms are provided as supplementary features and do not form part of the core operational functionality of the installed System.

Temporary interruption, WiFi issues, internet outages, software updates, server downtime, router configuration problems, or app-related faults which do not affect the core operation of the System shall not constitute reasonable grounds for withholding payment.

The Company will provide reasonable aftercare support to assist with monitoring or connectivity issues where possible.

Customers are responsible for maintaining a stable internet and WiFi connection where monitoring functionality is required.

6. Access & Customer Responsibilities

The Customer shall provide safe and reasonable access to the property for surveying, installation, maintenance, inspection, and commissioning works.

The Customer confirms:

* they are the legal property owner or have authority to approve works,
* all relevant permissions have been obtained where required,
* and electrical/internet services required for commissioning are available.

The Customer is responsible for ensuring pets, valuables, furniture, vehicles, and personal belongings are adequately protected or moved where necessary prior to installation.

7. Installation Dates

Any installation dates provided are estimates only and may be affected by:

* weather conditions,
* DNO approvals,
* supplier delays,
* material shortages,
* access issues,
* or circumstances outside the Company’s control.

The Company shall not be liable for reasonable delays arising from such circumstances.

8. Scaffolding & Access Equipment

Where scaffolding or access equipment is required, this may be installed prior to the main installation date and removed following completion.

Customers must not alter, move, climb, or interfere with scaffolding unless authorised by the scaffold provider.

9. Performance Estimates

Any estimated savings, generation figures, return-on-investment calculations, or payback periods are estimates only based on available information and industry software modelling.

Actual performance may vary due to:

* weather conditions,
* customer energy usage,
* shading,
* export tariffs,
* energy prices,
* or system operation.

No guaranteed financial savings are provided unless explicitly stated in writing.

10. DNO Approval & Grid Connection

Certain systems require approval from the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO).

The Company shall not be responsible for delays caused by DNO processing times, export limitations, or grid restrictions outside the Company’s control.

Where export limitations are imposed, system settings may require adjustment to comply with DNO requirements.

11. Warranties

Manufacturer warranties are provided subject to manufacturer terms and conditions.

The Company workmanship warranty applies only to installation workmanship and does not cover:

* accidental damage,
* misuse,
* customer alterations,
* internet/network issues,
* or third-party software/platform failures.

Warranty periods will be confirmed within handover documentation.

12. Certification

MCS certification, DNO notifications, and handover documents will normally be issued following:

* full payment clearance,
* successful commissioning,
* and completion of required administrative processes.

Processing times may vary.

Where MCS certification has not been explicitly included within the accepted quotation or contract, the Company reserves the right to charge an additional administration and certification fee for MCS registration and certification processing.

Any applicable certification fees will be clearly confirmed in writing prior to submission of the installation to the MCS database.

13. Cancellation Rights

Customers may have statutory cancellation rights under UK consumer legislation where applicable.

Any bespoke materials, ordered equipment, completed works, scaffolding costs, or non-recoverable expenses incurred prior to cancellation may remain chargeable.

14. Limitation of Liability

The Company shall not be liable for:

* indirect or consequential losses,
* loss of earnings,
* loss of export income,
* utility tariff changes,
* internet outages,
* or third-party software failures.

Nothing within these terms excludes liability where exclusion is prohibited by law.

15. Force Majeure

The Company shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform obligations due to events beyond reasonable control including:

* severe weather,
* supplier shortages,
* industrial disputes,
* transport disruption,
* acts of God,
* utility failures,
* or government restrictions.

16. Complaints

Any complaints should be submitted in writing to the Company as soon as reasonably possible, allowing the Company reasonable opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.

17. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by the laws applicable within the jurisdiction in which the installation contract is entered into.
